Coffee Morning

Coffee Morning

This year, ELMS commemorated this day in London for the first time with a sponsored balloon release and coffee morning. The event, held at Newham Town Hall, was attended by the Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales, and hosted by the Borough’s Civic Ambassador Councillor Omana Gangadharan.  Eileen Beadle, founder of ELMS, spoke about her experiences and joined in a minute’s silence before the balloon release, in memory of all those who have died from mesothelioma.

International Workers Memorial Day held on 28th April 2008

The purpose of the day is to commemorate those who have died as a result of work; and to call on the Government to do what it can to officially mark the day whilst at the same time reducing the death toll caused by work by increasing resources for prevention of ill-health and injury in the workplace.

This year’s event in London took the form of a March and Rally through the City of London to the HSE Headquarters then on to City Hall.

Eileen, representing ELMS was one of the many speakers taking part in the rally.
